Saint Michael vs Dragon epic battle

his one is greatly inspired by the antique bronze sculpture of Archangel Michael banishing the dragon by Belgian sculptor Charles Samuel. Purchased it recently in antiques shop, and it’s an artwork of exceptional beauty, I dare say! from the very beginning of 20th century. Charles Samuel depicts him as a knight in medieval gothic armor with a spear, tall and hansome, with magnificent wings. Strong air of Knight Romance period in 19th century when Middle Ages was kind of idealized. Absolutely love it!
Well, my version of Michael follows Samuel’s in general with only slight alterings. I wanted to make him look as a real person, ultimate warrior in medieval armor and mighty eagle based wings. His rival is a really long dragon, in sake of creating depth layers. The beast is already gathering its firepower, so it’s the last chance for St. Michael to strike it with a spear – now or never!

Antique bronze sculpture by Belgian sculptor Charles Samuel (beginning of 20th century), that greatly inspired my work! The upper half of the spear and a plant in right hand are missing, but nevertheless it's magnificent!!
